Playing in the Mud

Microservices and microservice systems are at their best when they are flexible and easy to modify. This talk looks at a complete microservice system. It will show it running and demonstrate adding live monitoring as a set of additional microservices. Throughout we will discuss lessons learned and when it makes sense to build little balls of mud. About the speaker: Dean is self taught software engineer who cut his teeth on .Net and Microsoft orientated technologies. Working in the food sector and specializing in traceability he has a wide range of experience with large systems and industrial hardware. Dean has made the transition to Node.js quickly, already having made contributions to Johnny-Five, an IoT focused robotics framework, as well as our very own nscale and Seneca. In his spare time, he contributes to open source software (see his GitHub profile https://github.com/mcdonnelldean) and plays retro games. Category
