Abstract: In this talk I will show how to use Apache Spark and Scala to implement scalable data processing applications. Concepts will be illustrated with the following use case: analyzing user interactions with 150M mobile ads per day. We will also discuss how object-oriented and functional programming lures developers into writing software that is easy to maintain and enables adding new features quickly.
